New worship director

Stewart McIlrath has just been appointed Worship Director in St George’s London, starting 1 Jan 2013. Stewart grew up in Ballymena Baptist, and having graduated from the University of Ulster with a degree in Music, he spent a year doing a few different jobs during which time he produced his first album of his own compositions called ‘Stories of Life’ (The Other Side).

In September 2011 he was selected for a full time course with Worship Central in London, where he spent a year studying various aspects of worship, including the theological and practical aspects of music ministry. It was as part of this practical work that Stewart took up a placement with St George’s Church (Holborne, Central London) which had originally been a church plant from Holy Trinity Brompton.

At end of the Worship Central course in September 2012 St George’s offered Stewart a 1 year internship as worship assistant. He quickly settled into life there, and as well as working part-time in the church kept himself busy with two part time jobs, one as an administrator in a local community association and another in a retail outlet in Covent Garden.

In October 2012 the Worship Director at St George’s decided to move to another church and Stewart was encouraged to apply for the position. After a formal selection process he was offered the position, and will officially start as Worship Director on 1st January 2013.
