Raymond & Jackie Givan
Tell us a bit about who you are and what you have been doing in your life recently?
We have been married for 37 years and have four grown-up daughters. Raymond trusted in Christ as his Saviour when 7 years old and Jackie was just nine. We have always felt God’s call on our lives, especially to work in a less privileged area of the world. In 1996 we went to Kenya as a family and spent two and a half years, working as a physician and a nurse at Kijabe Missionary Hospital and doing outreach mainly amongst the Maasai people. We have returned there on a number of occasions since and are active members in our own local church in Ballymena.
What are your future ministry plans with Crosslinks?
As a couple we have visited North Western Uganda twice over the last four years and have been invited by the Bishop to work in Goli, Nebbi Diocese. We will be involved in both medical work, evangelism and Bible teaching into the community. We have had many opportunities on our previous visits both in the community, prison outreach and to speak on the local radio station. We see a great need to encourage those who are gifted to pass on their faith to others as Paul encouraged Timothy in this regard (1Tim. 2:2).
How can we be praying for you?
Please pray as we seek to develop both prayer and financial partnerships with individuals and churches. Pray that people would commit to partner with us over the next few months so that our plans can be finalised. We are hoping to be in a position to leave for Uganda by the end of June 2013 (DV). We have had our house up for sale for two years but have been unable to sell it. Pray that this would be achieved or that we will be able to find a good tenant. Remember all our daughters as we leave them behind in the UK and that they like us will get to know God’s gift as we have and wish to serve him as their Saviour and Lord.
