CAP Prayer Letter (Sep.13)

The new look prayer letter! What a way to launch this new project. What an amazing day yesterday was. I am so encouraged by the response to our CAP Sunday. Remember to pray for Mary as she seeks to grow in her faith. And all the other clients who have recommitted their lives to Christ. Pray they will find a local church that meets their need and will be able to help them grow in their faith.

These past months have been both busy and discouraging for me as I have seen so many people who need our help yet choose to reject it and go their own way, but none the less I have had an opportunity to speak into their lives and that’s all I am called to do, to be faithful and tell them about our great God.

I have also had great opportunity to get out into the community and meet referral sources. I have attended Men’s and Women’s health events representing CAP and letting people know what help is available to those in need.

I have helped run a CAP Money course at Sure Start with Alison Chestnut. We worked with young men’s group. We had 8 men come along for the 3 week course. The feedback was great and we hope to get invited back to do it with the new group when that starts.
I found out about a “Friendship” group that meets in the Braid, went along and meet up with new people who might need my help in one way or another, there is a possibility to run a CAP money course for them in the future. With all this going on there is still the Debt Coach work to do. I have 3 new visits booked in every month each client receiving 3 visits and then the continuous support. When your life has reached a down word spiral you need all the help and support you can get. I have found that most people are open to the hope that we offer.

Over these next few months I hope to get the Churches who deliver CAP Money courses together so we can co-ordinate the work and run course throughout the year. This month sees me attending “Closer” this is a conference with CAP. I am sure there will be new things I will need to learn. Please pray for safe travel and a clear mind to take in all I hear.

Please pray for those who help in this work. Support workers are in regularly contact with the client and seeking to speak to them about their faith. Pray they might be bold for God and so we would see lives changed. Also on the 26th September we will be holding a “client event”. It will take the form of a pamper night. A few people at church have said they will come along and help to provide this evening for the ladies. Please pray that the ladies will come along and enjoy the evening but more importantly that they will hear the good news. There should be about 8-10 ladies coming along.

Between October and November I would like to hold a men’s event, but have no ideas as of yet what that could be, will keep you posted but pray for this that lives would be changed.

December will bring another client event and hampers for them over this tough time when we all feel the pressure of money; again will let you know closer to the time.

As I started to write this letter I wondered what I had to say then end up with so much. I value your support and prayer as we as a church reach out into the town we live in.
